Privacy Policy for DiscKarma

Last Updated: July 2025

Welcome to DiscKarma. We are a community-focused project dedicated to helping disc golfers get their lost discs back. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it, in plain language.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: When you sign up using a provider like Google or Facebook, we receive your name and email address. We store this to create and manage your account. We never see or store your password.
  • Disc & Retrieval Data: We store information you provide about lost or found discs, courses, and drop-off bins to make the service work.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used only to operate the DiscKarma service. This means:

  • To connect the finder of a disc with its owner.
  • To allow you to manage your account and any bins you are responsible for.
  • We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with third parties for marketing.

3. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Your Account: Your account information is kept as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. When you do, all of your personal data (name, email, etc.) is permanently deleted.
  • Disc Data: Information about a found disc is kept for a grace period to allow time for it to be retrieved (usually around two weeks, but this depends on local policies). Afterwards, it may be deleted or anonymized.

4. Cookie Policy

Only essential cookies. No tracking, no pop-ups.

We use a single cookie to manage your login session. That's it. We do not use any third-party cookies, tracking cookies, or advertising cookies. Your activity is not tracked.

5. Changes to This Policy

If we make major changes to this policy, we will do our best to notify you. Your continued use of the service after changes means you agree to the new policy.
